Hackers Stole 1m From Bitcoin Site

The owner of the online "Wallet Service" Bitcoin  has claimed that 4,100 Bitcoins(US$1.04m)
were lost in a hacker attack. He said that he's not going to report it to police as these
transactions are virtually impossible to trace. He is attempting to pay back customers who had stored more than 1 BTC (currently worth around $330) from his own personal account, as well as from the coins Inputs.io had in "cold storage" – a wallet not connected to the internet. But that totals slightly more than 1500 BTC, well less than the amount lost.

Why BackTrack is recommended for Hackers ?

If you're a hacker or a geek who is seeking to do something different, then you might be familiar with the most recommended os BACKTRACK.Penetration (Pen) testing and security auditing are now part of every system administrator's "other duties as assigned." BackTrack Linux (http://www.backtrack-linux.org/) is a custom distribution designed for security testing for all skill levels from novice to expert. It has the largest collection of wireless hacking, server exploiting, web application assessing, social-engineering tools available in a single Linux distribution.BackTrack Linux contains more than 300 security tools and utilities that are all open source. Many security professionals prefer them over expensive commercial programs. And, hackers certainly prefer hundreds of no cost, high-end applications to anything commercial. One reason for BackTrack's popularity is its anonymity. You don't have to register (Registration is optional). No names, bank accounts, or user accounts are associated with obtaining the ISO image. Additionally, no spyware will report back to any vendor.

In short, BackTrack's tagline says it all: "The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear."

The distro is a bootable, live DVD that's approximately 2GB in size. If you decide to install it to a hard disk or USB drive, the installation expands to almost 7GB. BackTrack is perfectly suited to installation to a USB drive, so that it's portable and stealthier than a hard disk install. A 16GB USB drive holds the installation with plenty of room for saving files and data.
Remember that you'll need to save your data from your information gathering exercises so that you can write security audit reports for your clients. The Live DVD is powerful but considerably slower than a hard disk or USB disk. If you use the DVD, use a USB drive or mountable hard disk partition to save the information you gather.

What's Included in the Distro

The BackTrack Distribution includes the following major tool categories:

Information Gathering
Vulnerability Assessment
Exploitation Tools
Privilege Escalation
Maintaining Access
Reverse Engineering
RFID Tools
Stress Testing
Forensics
Reporting Tools
Services
Miscellaneous

Lets change jump from JE SHORT 00441219 to JMP SHORT 00441219 so that it noe becomes JUMP instead of JUMP EQUAL. To do that double click on that statement and change it. Then click Assemble ,then Cancel.
Lets save what we did. To do so right click in olldbg and then go to Copy to executable, then click All modifications. Then click copy all. Close the shown window and click YES. over write it with existing file. If you have a backup copy of that else save it with other name.

Ethical Hacker From Raipur in Google's 'Security hall of Fame'

Monendra Sahu, a young mining engineer from National Institute of Technology (NIT-Raipur) has the distinction of hacking websites of Microsoft, Google, Nokia, Blackberry, Yahoo and many others and is now listed in the "Security Hall of Fame".

Advising caution to internet users, Sahu said, "There are websites which are highly vulnerable and can easily be hacked. I informed them about the loopholes in their security systems. After they verified my claims, they included me in the list."

On privacy measures that are recommended by various websites, Monendra said, "Indian websites are highly vulnerable. In fact, big names like Gmail and Facebook are also witnessing frequent security breaches."

"Online banking is a big threat, as it makes things easier for hackers. Algorithm science makes it easy for them to trace your ATM card number or password. During online transactions, one is often asked to provide credit card details, which can be traced by a hacker. I would suggest internet users, to lessen their number of logins to avoid such misuse", he added.

On vulnerability of wireless networks like wi-fi, Sahu said, "Wi-fi networks available for public use in places such as colleges, offices etc are more vulnerable."

Microsoft Pays $100,000 to a hacker for finding security flaws in Windows 8.1

James Forshaw, head of vulnerability research at London security consulting firm Context Information Security, won Microsoft's first reward of that sum for discovering “a new exploitation technique” in Windows 8.1, the software giant said on Tuesday.
Microsoft was already familiar with Forshaw. He recently earned $9,400 for finding vulnerabilities in a preview release of Internet Explorer 11. He’s also reaped rewards from Hewlett-Packard Co. and other software companies for his work in exposing security exploitations and flaws.
Tech companies paying hackers for discovering security vulnerabilities has become a common practice in the software development industry. Microsoft is one of the most recent to join in, debuting in June its bug bounty program that so far has paid researchers more than $128,000—with about 85 percent of that amount going to Forshaw alone.
Since 2010, Google has paid out more than two million dollars to “ethical hackers” who have found security weaknesses in its online tools and web apps. Facebook’s program has been around two years and has awarded more than a million dollars for bug discoveries. Last month the social networking site dished out $12,500 for the identification of a major software vulnerability, and while the amount was a big deal at the time, it now seems like peanuts next to Forshaw’s haul

Katie Moussouris,Senior Security Strategist in her blog post said

The reason we pay so much more for a new attack technique versus for an individual bug is that learning about new mitigation bypass techniques helps us develop defenses against entire classes of attack. This knowledge helps us make individual vulnerabilities less useful when attackers try to use them against customers. When we strengthen the platform-wide mitigations, we make it harder to exploit bugs in all software that runs on our platform, not just Microsoft applications.

15 Year Old Boy Who hacked NASA

Jonathan Joseph James (December 12, 1983 – May 18, 2008), was an American hacker who was the first juvenile incarcerated for cybercrime in the United States. The South Florida native was 15 years old at the time of the first offense and 16 years old on the date of his sentencing. He died on May 18, 2008, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Between August 23, 1999, and October 27, 1999, James committed a series of intrusions into various systems, including those of BellSouth and the Miami-Dade school system. What brought him to the attention of federal authorities, however, was his intrusion into the computers of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, a division of the United States Department of Defense, the primary function of which is to analyze potential threats to the United States of America, both at home and abroad. James later admitted to authorities that he had installed an unauthorized backdoor in a computer server in Dulles, Virginia, which he used to install a sniffer that allowed him to intercept over three thousand messages passing to and from DTRA employees, along with numerous usernames and passwords of other DTRA employees, including at least 10 on official military computers. It was later revealed that the precise software obtained was the International Space Station's source code controlling critical life-sustaining elements. According to NASA, "the software supported the International Space Station's physical environment, including control of the temperature and humidity within the living space."This intrusion, when detected, caused NASA to shut down its computers for three weeks that July, costing $41,000 to check and fix its systems.
